Rehabilitation

As with any surgery, rehabilitation is an important part of the recovery. There may be several restrictions on your work and leisure activities immediately following surgery. You will be giving postoperative instruction that will detail exercises that you are to do on your own as well as information on other activities that may be helpful and activities you should avoid until your doctor has given you approval.

If significant rehabilitation services are needed in the form of physical therapy or occupational therapy, outpatient therapies can be obtained, or in even more severe cases, inpatient therapies may be ordered or arrangements made for inpatient stays in a rehabilitation unit.

It is important that you follow your recommended course of rehabilitation after your surgery to ensure you regain the optimal level of strength and mobility.
